We are looking for the location and historical names for all the oil refineries in the USA.
If you have information to donate, please send it to:
We have 131 known operating refineries.
And we have 98 known shutdown refineries.
We think there are at least 70 more shutdown refineries that we don’t have listed.
We have no precise location data for the following refineries:

I
have my doubts about this refinery.
Did it ever exist? Where was
it? Perhaps it is still running. |
We do not have an accurate description of what an oil refinery is, but if the facility does not fractionate some fraction of crude oil then it is not an oil refinery by our standards. A topping unit is an oil refinery, and operation of an FCCU only counts as an oil refinery.
For practical purposes, any refinery less than 100 BPD of Send Out is excluded.
Send Out is the refinery production products in BPD.
